A new start, a new idea – in many of us, this evokes notions of opportunity, departure and innovation, with good reason. The Tour de France will begin its 104th edition with a new idea as well. For the first time in 30 years, the Tour will be held on German soil again. In 1965 it started in Cologne, in 1980 in Frankfurt/Main and in 1987 in West Berlin. But, after 1989, the Tour never started in the reunited Germany. So Düsseldorf in 2017 will mark a premiere which, not least, can be regarded as a way of honoring the great achievements of German cyclists. No other nation has clinched more stage wins in the past three years. On the other hand, a start abroad is an innovative element in planning the Tour’s route. Since 1951, there have been 22 starts outside France.

New approaches, changes and innovations – they’re the things that drive a company forward as well and that’s why tackling challenges and creating solutions is our maxim. The Aero / Allround / Endurance classifications introduced for our road bike model range are more than mere terminology. They stand for engineering approaches and technologies that correspond to the respective uses and desired properties of our frame sets. With “Directional Depending Stiffness,” for example, we achieve comfort and stiffness exactly where they’re needed. Or take the aerodynamics of a frame. It’s defined by “Sectional Aerodyamic Shaping” and evaluated in complex wind tunnel tests. Specifically developed fork shapes and seat post cross-sections as in the case of the Fascenario.3 optimize the overall performance of a frame set. Ultimately, for our customers, this is a new exciting program built on Storck traditions. Plus, it’s a start to a new season. Perhaps we’ll see each other for the start of the 2017 Tour de France at our Düsseldorf Storck Store.
